First monograph devoted to the work of Yonel Lebovici (1937-1998). The project is to define the contours of a protean work produced by a creator whose nature we seek to define: artist or designer? This original embraces his time, he has been projecting his energy into the artistic accomplishment of his technical skills since the 1960s. Passionate about aeronautics, he imagines works or more precisely sculptures that are useful, audacious and ingenious. Noticed and published by Pierre Cardin, he entered the Parisian art scene. In his work, function is draped in a playful aspect and is composed according to various creative processes: transposition, the magnifying glass effect, reversibility, combinatorics and modularity. His quest for beauty unfolds following a logic of brilliant bricolage. Through a phenomenon of assembly, association, he machines industrial materials: plastics, aluminum, plexiglass, for example. A free spirit, he evokes his passions through transformed objects: the float, the mason's level, the electrical plug, the paper clip, the barcode, the welder's mask... He transposes these anonymous objects into sculptures, with a strong attention to form and an ambiguous function, they are produced in limited series. Lebovici transfigures them, driven by the desire to make us look at them differently. This joyful and unique work is part of the great history of the "objectists" of the 20th century.

These collective works provide an international panorama of art, architecture, design, fashion, cinema, music, theater, literature, etc. by decade. She is also the author of the books Furniture and Decor of the 40s, 60s, 70s and 80s, and The Spirit of Furniture and Design; The Aesthetic Evolution of Antiquity published in 2013 by Hachette.
