Born in Paris in 1942, Gérard Titus-Carmel, after studying at the Boulle School in Paris, developed a passion for surrealism and poetry. From his first exhibitions in the 1960s, his paintings and drawings, his lithographs and engravings revealed a strong taste for literature, as evidenced by the titles and dedications of his paintings. He illustrated the poets he loved, from Jacques Dupin to Philippe Jaccottet, before writing his own texts. Gérard Titus-Carmel continued his work as a painter and writer in the silence of a large building where he has lived for over thirty years in Oulchy-le-Château. "A shattered dream", "a haggard and Anglo-Norman reverie" as he likes to call it, is the first text by Gérard Titus-Carmel, forgotten and completely unpublished since 1966. With this dismantling or story in pieces, the word blossoms and sheds new light on the half-century of creation that followed: a true tale of truth.
