These collections have continued to grow: with exceptional chronological, geographical and typological diversity, they currently comprise nearly 500,000 objects! They have grown throughout France's turbulent global military history, through a wide variety of acquisition methods: donations, transfers, purchases, legacies, gifts, pre-emptions, orders, etc.
Housed in the prestigious Hôtel des Invalides, the Army Museum, established in 1905 and responsible for preserving the tomb of Napoleon I, is currently working on the collections of tomorrow. With its MINERVE expansion and modernization project under way, it is pursuing an ambitious policy of acquiring objects to better understand a constantly evolving world of war.
