For this second opus of the Terre & Territoires residency, Julie Hascoët proposes a hybrid form, somewhere between a notebook, field study, and library research. It is a visual exploration, a poetic expedition into the arteries of the earth, which reveals, in a non-exhaustive way, a set of underground spaces: old quarries, abandoned troglodyte dwellings, cellars... Julie Hascoët symbolically probes the scope of these constructions for what they suggest within our societies. Are these invisible worlds, which escape the gaze, refuges or withdrawal zones in an anxiety-provoking context? Between the Loir and Loire, between Vendômois tuffeau and Beauce limestone, this work is the result of a one-month residency carried out in the fall of 2021 between two structures and two departments: Zone i, in Thoré-la-Rochette, in Loir-et-Cher, and Valimage, in Tavers, in Loiret. Terre et Territoires is a photographic creation residency, an invitation to travel in the Centre-Val de Loire region, from the Loire to the Perche Vendômois via Beauce. Julie Hascoët, the second resident, offers a visual exploration, a poetic expedition into the arteries of the earth, which reveals, in a non-exhaustive way, a set of underground spaces: old quarries, abandoned troglodyte dwellings, cellars... This residency raises the question of territory in a particularly troubled period from both an ecological and societal point of view. The resident photographer invests a rural, industrial, inhabited and deserted site, between the Loire and the Loir. He or she strives to make visible the particularities of this territory, its qualities, its flaws and its riches. He or she will have a vocation to question the universal.
