In 2013, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain presented a solo exhibition of Australian artist Ron Mueck, following the success of the previous exhibition of his works eight years earlier. On this occasion, the artist's impressive and disturbing sculptures occupied the entire space of the building designed by Jean Nouvel.
To coincide with this exhibition, the Fondation Cartier is publishing a reference work that looks back over Ron Mueck's twenty-year career and presents all of his sculptures through numerous photographs and previously unpublished documents. Studio views, preparatory drawings, and photographs of models allow the reader to discover the artist's creative process and gain an intimate insight into his work. The book also features new sculptures specially created for the exhibition. Contributions by art critics Robert Storr and Justin Paton offer new insights into Ron Mueck's work, while exploring the major themes underlying his oeuvre.
