The museums of Roubaix, Quimper and Albi are joining forces to organize an exhibition dedicated to the French sculptor "René Iché (1897-1954). Art in struggle" The sculptor René Iché is present in the collections of La Piscine thanks to two purchases and a donation from the Friends who describe his talent as a portraitist as well as his exemplary political commitment. The State also recently deposited in Roubaix an allegorical statuette with a strong memorial charge, a symbol of the Resistance offered to De Gaulle for his London office: La Détachée, an image of a weak and blinded France, denunciation of the German Occupation and the Collaboration of the French State.
Around these works and thanks to the contribution of research carried out by the artist's granddaughter, works from the family collection, private collections and public collections will be brought together in a unique exhibition aimed at rediscovering a key player in the French art scene of the 20th century, committed to translating the man but also his time. This exhibition is co-produced with the Musée des Beaux-arts de Quimper, which will present it in the fall of 2023.
