A work on the phenomena of transmission of funerary texts from the 1st millennium BC in ancient Egypt.

This volume brings together twelve contributions from the international conference “Funerary Texts in Egypt in the 1st Millennium BC: Continuities and Changes from the Third Intermediate Period to the Late Period” which took place at the University of Lausanne in September 2021, in partnership with the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology and the University of Basel. The studies presented in this book focus more specifically on funerary texts from the Third Intermediate Period (1069-664 BC) and the Late Period (664-332 BC), while making a link with the period that precedes it – the New Kingdom – and the one that follows – the Ptolemaic period.

The articles are presented diachronically to highlight the particularities of each period and to identify the modes of transmission from one period to another. The various supports on which these texts are copied (papyrus, tomb walls, coffins) are also taken into account. The work thus makes it possible to draw up an inventory of the development of funerary texts and their transmission supports during these periods.
