In 2008, the Museum of African, Oceanic and Amerindian Arts in Marseille received a donation of magnificent feather ornaments, collected from the Wayampi Amerindians in French Guiana by Dr. Marcel Heckenroth during his tours of the Oyapock between 1939 and 1942.
It is in the art of the feather that all the refinement of the aesthetics of the Amazonian peoples is expressed: these feather ornaments are exceptional, both for their remarkable state of preservation and for the history of their collection.
