Pierre Culot (1938–2011) was a Belgian ceramicist and sculptor. Trained by Antoine de Vinck and the English master potter Bernard Leach, he bridged British, Japanese, and French traditions and passionately expressed his desire to be in the world, to be on earth, in nature, the only generator of life and beauty.
Throughout his life, he remained faithful to his initial experience as a potter, evolving his ceramic works from basic forms (bowls, plates, pitchers) to others, more daring (cruciform vases, gourds, compound pots, inkwells). His imagination going beyond functionality, he created sculptures and did not hesitate to permanently inscribe himself in the landscape with his wall sculptures.
