This work invites ten authors, from different backgrounds (art history, literature, history, medicine, law, cinema, etc.), to establish a connection – or on the contrary to highlight antagonisms – between Balzac the writer and Pierre Buraglio the contemporary artist.
Referring to the great richness of characters and situations in Balzac, but also to the different aesthetic directions taken by Buraglio, each author offers an original approach, most of them having a particular relationship to Buraglio's work and an excellent knowledge of The Human Comedy.
These cross-references allow a rediscovery of Balzac's work, in the light of the artistic universe – variations of supports, collages, staplings, hand-highlighting, drawings, engravings – of Pierre Buraglio.
