Exhibition March 18 - July 13, 2020 The Musée des Beaux-arts de Lyon will offer a reinterpretation of the theme of the bather in the work of Pablo Picasso with counterpoints from the works of 19th-century artists who influenced Picasso in his treatment of this subject. Other contemporary artists or followers of Picasso will also be presented as they were interested in Picasso's bathers and found in them a source of inspiration or the pretext for a confrontation. The exhibition is organized in partnership with the Musée National Picasso-Paris and with the support of the Guggenheim Foundation in Venice. The exhibition originates from Femme assise sur la plage (February 10, 1937), bequeathed to the museum in 1997 by the actress collector Jacqueline Delubac and which has become one of the icons of the museum's modern art collection.
