These 48 color plates of tropical orchids were published in the 19th century by Jean-Jules Linden (1817-1898), 30 years before his Lindenia . They were produced by the best botanical artists of that century, including F. de Tollenaere and Maubert.
These plates are accompanied by a text which gives the Latin diagnosis (determination of the characteristics specific to a given species and which allows its identification), bibliographical references, the description of the plant, the place of its discovery, its harvest, its acclimatization and its diffusion in the world.
Printed on high-quality paper, the book is bound in full cloth with fine gold gilding. The color plates have been reproduced in four-color process. The French version is published in a limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies.
