A creative duo working together, Martine and Jacki Perrin have been exploring the unsuspected riches of glass since the 1990s. A material of light, in which colors, shadows, and interplays of transparencies and opacities blend, contrast, or reveal themselves, glass becomes mineral sculptures. Shapes, scales, matte or translucent effects compose works of singular beauty. The gaze plunges into oceans that seem populated by chimeras. The duo creates both monumental and more intimate pieces, compact masses or others that seem to dissolve before our eyes. At the limit of materiality, certain sculptures fascinate with their chroma transformed by the extreme heat of the furnace: Perrin & Perrin are alchemists. Each piece is unique, each one resulting from the artist's knowledge and the magic of the elements that have melted. This monograph presents for the first time all the creative facets of the duo: the studio is a place of exploration of the possibilities of materials, glass of course, but also metal, ceramics, textiles, and Indian ink. Their transdisciplinary approach is restored here: like a musical score, the work of Perrin & Perrin is discovered throughout the pages through variations in the rhythms of colors, textures, and shapes.
