By following the lead of André Corboz, this work extends the "reading of the territory as a palimpsest" undertaken in Invention of Carouge (1968) to the scale of the Geneva Praille-Acacias-Vernets urban project. This detailed cartographic approach, which reports the evolution of the Carouge and Geneva fabric through the PAV, allows for a better understanding of the metamorphosis of the site in order to use it as a planning tool. Printed on tracing paper, the hundreds of reproduced maps, superimposed in a fragmentation into distinct layers, translate the concept of reading a place "by layers". This reading in depth allows for the weaving of a relationship between the history of the site and a future intervention. More than the result of successive writings, or the testimony of a buried past, this in-depth exploration of the territory makes the historical trace a potential urban layout. It is through the interpretation of these elements that we reveal and bring to light components of the past, which then become components of the present.
