In April 1874 in Paris, a group of daring artists organized the first Impressionist exhibition in the former studio of the photographer Nadar. Among them were Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot, Cézanne, Pissarro, and Sisley, who sought to free themselves from the rules of the official Salon and impose a new way of painting by exhibiting their works themselves. "Amitiés", "Cache-cache", "Parisienne", "Plein-air", "Scandale", "Vie moderne": the fifty or so key concepts and works that make up this primer invite us to discover the multiple facets of this new painting.
