For the first time, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon is dedicating a special exhibition to contemporary ceramics. From sculptural works from the La Borne workshops of the 1960s to more recent organic pieces, the exhibition will offer an evocative panorama of creation in this field, from the second half of the 20th century to the present day. Generously proportioned works by Jean and Jacqueline Lerat will be displayed alongside ceramics by Joulia, Pontoreau, Virot, Dejonghe, and Champy. These pioneering artists mastered the constraints of fire to invent unexpected shapes and surface effects, thus inscribing new volumes in space. Surprise will arise from the confrontation with recent creations, overflowing with creativity and color. The museum will also reveal ceramics that have recently entered the collections, following several donations.
