We are increasingly interested in objects as living beings, each with a biography. Nothing is less immobile than an object: migratory objects have always existed, whether they are men, gods, ideas, languages, music, cuisines, or things. Today, when, particularly in the Mediterranean, welcoming those we call "migrants" is the order of the day, it is a question of demonizing the idea of migration and showing how migratory objects serve to constitute this civilization that we call ours, to spread it, and to make it evolve. One of the original features of the exhibition is to create a dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary, between the most precious art objects and everyday objects. Thus, we will discover side by side a cup showing Ulysses on his raft, made of two amphorae, and an ecoboat made of plastic bottles... The aim is to take stock of the types of transformations due to migration. We move from the unique - a perfectly singular memory object - to the multiple with commerce and diffusion, crossing the problem of copying, fakes, counterfeiting, reuse - is the skull of The Man from Rio a real fake, a real fake? What is hybridization, syncretism, crossbreeding? And appropriation, inspiration? The modalities of reinvestment of the object put back into work the ideas of center and periphery, original and copy, same and other. Finally, the question of objects at a standstill in museums - objects of curiosity, science, art, heritage objects - is deployed, and the very current one of returned objects and shared objects.
