Adriano Olivetti's (1901-1960) ambition was to create a modern industrial activity, within the framework of a humanist vision and respect for the work of his collaborators. He was sensitive to social relations and at the same time attentive to corporate communication. Olivetti tried to renew the spirit of Italian culture by modernizing the world of work. Fascism shattered his hope for moderate socialism and forced him, as a Jew, to take refuge in Switzerland in 1944.
He completed an industrial tour in the United States, where he studied the transition from mechanical production to the new electronic model. A man of thought and action, Adriano Olivetti invented a global icon with his legendary Lettera 22 typewriter. A close friend of Denis de Rougemont, he committed himself to defending an ideal federalist movement for Europe. His powerful and humanist vision of the rapidly evolving world of work is presented here for the first time in French.
Adriano Olivetti was convinced that the roots of human beings are found in nature: he insisted on man's responsibility towards the environment and proposed a new society on a human scale.
