In the summer of 1927, at the Ango manor in Normandy, André Breton was working on a short autobiographical book about his encounter with a young woman, Léona Delcourt, who would go down in literary posterity as Nadja. From this brief and intense mutual attraction, the poet created a text peppered with images that depicted chance, wanderings, and coincidences as determining factors in romantic adventure, writing, and the arts.
