Inaugurated in 1939 and integrated into the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium since 1978, the Constantin Meunier Museum is housed in the house-studio that the artist had built on Rue de L'Abbaye, in Iselles, in 1899, at the time of his artistic career. In this residential area, the building has retained over time its tranquility and the warm atmosphere of a bourgeois masonry, which has since become a showcase for the artist's work. An attentive witness to the industrial boom of his time, Constantin Meunier (1831-1905) succeeded in introducing the heroism of the worker and the laborer into the canon of the arts of the late 19th century, giving it nobility and symbolic force. Today, visitors can admire the full diversity of his work, which brings together sculpture, paintings, pastels and drawings. This work offers a significant overview, through several themes and around a hundred works studied and illustrated.
