The eminent art dealer, major collector and extremely wealthy David Nahmad, whose fortune is estimated at 1.8 billion dollars according to Forbes magazine, has built up with his brother Ezra one of the most important and prestigious private art collections in the world.
The Nahmad family collection is rich in several thousand works and masterpieces, signed by the great names of modern art, from the masters of pre-impressionism and impressionism (Boudin, Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Degas), through the Fauves (Marquet, Dufy), the Cubists (Braque, Gris), the School of Paris (Modigliani, Kisling, Pascin), without forgetting three hundred Picassos (the most important private collection of the painter, outside that of the Picasso family).
These paintings are regularly loaned to major French and international institutions.
Thus, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Henri Matisse, the Nahmads are honoured to show their support to the Matisse Museum in Nice by lending, for a period of one year, the seventeen paintings by Henri Matisse that they have collected over the years.
