We thought we knew everything about Marcel Duchamp. Wasn't he one of the most studied and discussed artists? Yet few are familiar with the period 1905-1911, during which, based in Paris, he produced a number of cartoons in the humorous press, Le Courrier français, Le Rire, and Le Témoin. Strangely, with very few exceptions, biographies and critical studies have neglected, downplayed, or even ignored this period and this activity. By immersing us in the artistic effervescence of the beginning of the century, Daniel Grojnowski invites us to discover his press productions and humorous cartoons, which cannot be considered negligible.
