An exhibition at the Jenisch Museum in Vevey is dedicated to "Lyonel Feininger. The City and the Sea" to mark the 150th anniversary of this American artist. Born in New York, Feininger pursued a career in Germany and became a major figure in the European avant-garde, best known for his participation in the creation of the Bauhaus. The catalogue is based on a loan from a private collection of 215 of the artist's works: drawings, prints, and paintings.
The exhibition, running from October 15, 2021, to January 9, 2022, will take place in the Print Pavilion of the Jenisch Museum, a space dedicated to printmaking and managed by the Cantonal Print Cabinet. It will feature approximately 60-70 works, primarily prints but also some drawings and paintings related to this production. The catalog consists of four essays and a comprehensive presentation of the collection.
