In a global context marked by global warming and environmental issues, the 2018 Grand Prix de l'urbanisme was awarded to a collective of landscapers whose projects invariably place nature at the center. : the TER Agency.
Working upstream of urban planning projects, their interventions, known in several parts of the world for being part of a long-term project, all have in common the fact that they participate in the design of a " urban planning of living environments ". For Henri Bava, Michel Hössler and Olivier Philippe, the three founders of TER now at the head of around sixty professionals, the inevitable process of metropolitanization must be accompanied by virtuous landscaping and architectural action, respectful, in each place, of the heritage, the people and the nature that surrounds them.
In the city, the TER Agency is planting vegetation, designing parks, and inventing new spatialities. ; on the scale of large territories, it seeks to neutralize the harmful effects of urban sprawl by paying increased attention to preserving the quality of soil, air, water, and maintaining agricultural activities.
So many ways to create or recreate links between the city and living environments ; and to give voice to the landscape in order to respond to the emergencies of an era.
Three other personalities were recognized by this session of the Grand Prix de l'urbanisme : Patrick Bouchain, architect who knew how to reconvert urban derelicts and who initiated transitional urban planning ; François Leclercq, architect and urban planner who works on the reinvestment of infrastructure and the revitalization of ground floors ; and Jacqueline Osty, landscape designer twice winner of the Grand Prix national du paysage, whose sensitive approach is underpinned by great spatial skill.
