This second volume of the final publication of the results of the Louvre's archaeological mission at Saqqara concerns the hypogeal tombs of the Late Period. Illustrated with nearly 1,000 color photographs, drawings, and plans, it presents the study of tombs F7, F17, H, j1, Q, and n1 discovered in 2003-2007. These are located north of the Ounas causeway, where excavations led by Christiane Ziegler from 1991 to 2007 uncovered more than 3,000 years of human occupation, from the time of the pyramids to the Arab conquest. These hypogeal tombs are exceptional in several ways. Most were inviolate, and their contents were found in their original arrangement. They are distinguished by the quality of the objects and their rare state of preservation. Finally, a demotic inscription dates one of them precisely to the second year of Pharaoh Nectanebo II, the first month of the flood (November 21-December 20, 360 BC). The work, in two volumes, includes the architectural and archaeological description of the different tombs as well as the detailed catalog of the objects found there. At the end of the work, one will find a series of scientific studies concerning the mummies and embalmer's equipment, the inscriptions (demotic, Cypro-Greek and Coptic) as well as the materials and techniques (research on pigments, plants, textiles and cartonnages).
