Collection: "The sculptor's workshop (2)".

This volume, the first in the catalog of Roman sculptures at the Bardo Museum in Tunis, is devoted to portraits and portrait statues now without heads: 175 works, many of which have never been seen before. Each of them has been the subject of direct examination. Particular attention has been paid to the colors that very often complemented them. These works, which come from all over Tunisia, with some particular groups (Carthage, Bulla Regia, Thuburbo Maius) shed new light on sculpture in Roman Africa, while providing a wealth of information on sculptors' workshops and the circulation of works of art in the Mediterranean.
