This work offers a translation/transliteration of all the chapters present in two papyri of the Book of the Dead:
- The Papyrus of Neferubenef (Louvre III 93) which presents 69 of the 192 Chapters currently considered to constitute the envelope of the Book of the Dead; dated to the end of the 18th Dynasty (of the post-Amarna period, reigns of Tutankhamun or Ai) and probably coming from the Theban region, it would retain, if it were grouped together, a total length of approximately 14 m. Three Appendices successively present: diagrams visualizing the arrangement of the different Chapters on the Papyrus, the reproduction of 29 vignettes (after Naville 1886, Bd.I) and the reproduction of the facsimiles of 20 Chapters which are present on the Papyrus (after Naville 1886, Bd.I).
- The Papyrus of Soutimès (BnF, Egyptian «38-45«) which presents only 20 Chapters of the Book of the Dead; dated from the XIXth Dynasty (ca. 1200 BC), its length is more than 6 m. Three Appendices successively present: diagrams visualizing the arrangement of the different Chapters on the Papyrus, the black and white reproduction of all the vignettes of the Papyrus and the color reproduction of the facsimile of the Papyrus (after Guieysse and Lefébure 1877).
