This book offers a new analysis of the bas-reliefs of Neo-Assyrian palaces from the 1st millennium BC. It combines a spatial analysis, based on the 3D reconstruction of the royal palaces allowing the resituation of the images in the architecture, and a semiological analysis. The analysis of the structure of these images, coupled with a semantic study of the texts associated with them, shows that these two media form portraits of both royalty and kings.
