"Magellane" collection.
Magellan is the most famous of navigators, his voyage the most extraordinary of adventures, but dozens of errors and approximations, invariably repeated from book to book, unfortunately circulated in all works, even those considered serious, notably Zweig's biography.
The critical edition of all the direct sources on Magellan's Voyage (1050 pages), published in 2007 by Chandeigne, was able to correct these errors and make numerous discoveries about this expedition. It has become the world's standard work.
This paperback summarizes this critical edition. It offers Pigafetta's most famous account, accompanied by detailed itineraries. A color notebook contains contemporary maps. The notes expand on the main contributions of the 2007 edition and add, chapter by chapter, everything that Pigafetta's account omits.
An appendix deals with the ships and crews, the list and number of which have been established in detail for the first time. This paperback book thus becomes the reference edition, accessible to all, of Antonio Pigafetta's account of Magellan's voyage.
