The 8th AFAV International Conference, held in Besançon in December 2016, brought together a large number of specialists in medieval glass. Presented in these proceedings, the papers renew, through an interdisciplinary approach, the studies conducted on a material that has interested archaeologists, historians, archaeometers, glassmakers, and restorers-conservators. They offer a synthesis of our knowledge of glass from the 8th to the 16th centuries in Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, and the Balkans, and more specifically in Swiss, German, and French regions, without omitting exchanges with the New World (Canada) for the end of the period considered.
