This work offers the translation of the hieroglyphic and Greek texts of the "Decree of Memphis" which is engraved on the one hand on the "Stele of Nobaireh" and on the other hand on the "Rosetta Stone".
This Decree, promulgated in 196 BC under Ptolemy V Epiphanes, is mainly known from the "Rosetta Stone" (kept in London at the British Museum) but also from the "Stele of Nobaireh" (Cairo, CGC 22188), the latter allowing the lost hieroglyphic part of the "Rosetta Stone" to be restored with more or less accuracy (in view of the stonecutter's errors).
The "Memphis Decree" recorded a number of generosities, particularly towards temples and their personnel, and above all established monthly festivals in honour of birth and accession to the sovereign throne.
