For many years, Theban tomb No. 6 belonging to Nefer-hotep (I) and Neb-nefer – two important figures from Deir el Medina who lived during the reigns of Horemheb and the early Ramessides – was known only through the line drawings executed by Henri Wild and collected in a booklet published in 1979 ( MIFAO 103/2 ). The text that was to accompany these plates and on which the Swiss Egyptologist worked until his death in 1983, was never published. The manuscript, preserved in the Archives and Collections department of the IFAO, was "rediscovered" in 2011, on the occasion of the redeployment of the department and the creation of a new inventory.

Wild's original text is thus published for the first time, more than forty years after the volume of plates. It consists notably of an architectural analysis, a detailed description of each of the walls, a translation of the texts as well as studies on several documents relating to Nefer-hotep (I) and his son, Neb-nefer. In accordance with the researcher's plans, various plans of the tomb and numerous photographs – no snapshot of the monument having been published to date – complement his writings.

This work, which is part of the long tradition of publishing the tombs of Deir el Medina, lifts the veil on the architecture, decoration and owners of a tomb that has remained unknown for too long.
