From January 28 to July 25, 2021, the Musée Marmottan Monet presents the first monographic exhibition ever devoted in France to one of the greatest masters of Danish painting, Peder Severin Krøyer (1851-1909). A contemporary of Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916), Peder Severin Krøyer is to the outdoors what his contemporary was to the indoor scene. More than sixty masterpieces from the Skagen Museum – custodian of one of the world's largest collections of the artist – the Gothenburg Museum, as well as museums in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Alkersum/Föhr, Lübeck, Kiel, Budapest, and Paris, honor this remarkable interpreter of the blue hour, the meteorological phenomenon that precedes dusk and occurs especially on the distant northern seashores. This exhibition is under the high patronage of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
