This book is the third volume in a series devoted to the archaeological site of Tell el-Herr, a military establishment built on the eastern border of Egypt during the 5th century BC. After the Roman camp of the Late Empire and the Hellenistic and Early Empire levels, the remains of the domestic habitat contemporary with the first Persian domination and the last indigenous dynasties are presented here. The joint study of chronostratigraphy, materials and architectural principles implemented during two centuries of occupation, as well as the examination of the archaeological finds, have made it possible to approach this fortified complex from the point of view of its spatial and functional organization while drawing up an initial assessment of the living environment of a garrison population during a key period in the history of Egypt.
