Christian Dotremont founded Revolutionary Surrealism in Belgium in 1947 and, the following year, the CoBrA movement (1948-1951) – an acronym for the cities Copenhagen-Brussels-Amsterdam – which brought together artists from northern Europe and advocated spontaneity.
