JUNGLES brings together the various series created by photographer Olivia Lavergne over the past ten years. It is constructed according to a principle inspired by cinema, a fluid montage of images that conveys the unfolding narrative. This work is designed in large format to accentuate the immersive effect in the immense landscapes where the action takes place. We follow the steps of a mysterious young woman, dressed as a city dweller, who delves into the forest…

At the center of the book appears a stunning gallery of illuminated tree figures. This series is nestled within a magical new short story by Bérengère Cournut that resonates deeply with the images of Olivia Lavergne. The third part of the book leads the reader in the wake of a Mentawaï (flower-men) family whose illumination, suspended between reality and imagination, allows us to glimpse an intimate knowledge of the jungle inhabited like an immense garden.

The book JUNGLES, rooted in the very contemporary question of the relationship between man and nature, explores, following the authors Olivia Lavergne and Bérengère Cournut, the signs of a new editorial genre which would be to photography what the tale is to literature.

JUNGLES is prefaced by Xavier Canonne, director of the Museum of Photography in Charleroi.
