How do you live when you're 20, what are your plans, your aspirations?
Begun in February 2020, this series of photographs is dedicated to Generation Z, born around the year 2000, who are 20 years old at the beginning of the 2020s.

Julien Daniel met the youth from five countries whose leaders (presidents or prime ministers) have remained in power for the past two decades. Vladimir Putin's Russia, Angela Merkel's Germany, Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Turkey, Paul Kagame's Rwanda, and Benjamin Netanyahu's Israel... Portraits and urban landscapes engage in dialogue and question politics, societies, and the construction of identities.

Documenting the reality of young people around the world is a common practice in contemporary photography. However, few photographers achieve this with the delicate restraint of Julien Daniel.
