Memoirs 63.

A CNRS research director, Jean-Claude Golvin has dedicated his life to the study of ancient monuments. From Tunisia to Egypt, and then throughout the Mediterranean world, he has worked on the most prestigious sites and published important scientific works.
Since joining the Ausonius Institute in 1993, he has devoted himself particularly to the graphic reconstruction of monuments and cities. His theoretical reflections and his achievements have given new life and relevance to this exercise, invented by Renaissance architects and which constitutes the desirable outcome of any archaeological study.
This volume is composed of two parts. On the one hand, a tribute from researchers who, among many other archaeology specialists, had the pleasure of working with J.-C. Golvin; on the other, his own reflections on the questions raised by the restitution of lost monuments, through a selection of remarkable articles.
