Ben in Vallauris chooses to explore ceramics as a material open to creation. This medium, which may appear very far from the artist's artistic questions, Ben appropriates it in its different identities: that of decorative use when he revisits trinkets, objects typical of 19th century productions, which he diverts into ready-made , that of the nature of the medium through its fragility, by reusing fragments of broken ceramic, and that of the gesture, which allows one to grasp all the sensuality inherent in working with clay, when he shapes figurines or writing directly, without the intermediaries that can be the wheel or the mold.
With humor and provocation, inherent in his artistic approach, Ben offers mixed works in which earth is the common thread.
Through the exhibition proposed in Vallauris to which Ben invited the visual artist Monique Thibaudin, Ben's uninhibited approach allows us to reconnect with a certain lightness in the way of perceiving the earth material.
