This volume presents the unpublished photographic work carried out by Luigi Spina in the Archaeological Park of Pompeii with a Hasselblad camera. Spina was able to immerse himself in the heart of more than 60 domus , tread their peristyles, explore their mosaic pavements, scrutinize the composition of the opus sectile , experience the warmth of Pompeian red, without forgetting to stop, even if only briefly, on the frescoed walls, the plaster-covered columns, the perspectives opening onto the surrounding landscape. At a time when the Archaeological Park, during the pandemic, was closed to the public, and we were forced to confine ourselves to our apartments, Luigi Spina took up residence in Pompeii, inhabited its houses, saw the natural light give shape to the city and collected its variations. He felt in his flesh the living archaeology, the vibrant classicism. This is the genesis of Interno pompeiano , a photographic album in which the plastic research is enriched, for each of the eight regiones , with short texts that accompany the reader in the exploration of each domus , shedding light on its particularities and evoking the unusual anecdotes linked to it. Two texts on the birth and development of the Pompeian imagination complete the collection.
