The Incas and their predecessors are famous for their ceramics, goldwork, and imposing stone buildings… But how did they dress? The Incas used precious textiles not only for clothing, but also as symbols of power and identity, as offerings, or as a means of exchange. This fall, the Brussels Museum of Art and History is exhibiting a breathtaking collection of textiles and feathers, as well as jewelry made of gold, silver, and shells. The exhibition is complemented by a workshop, where Peruvian women demonstrate traditional weaving techniques. This event, intended for a wide audience, will feature some 200 pieces from the museum's collections, combined with objects from the Linden Museum in Stuttgart, the MAS in Antwerp, and private Belgian collections. From November 23, 2018 to March 24, 2019 at the Museum of Art and History (Parc du Cinquantenaire) in Brussels.
