This book synthesizes current knowledge on the various Hunnic peoples, who played a major role in Eurasia from the 4th to the 6th century: European Huns, but also Chionites, Kidârite Huns, Hephtalites or White Huns… Using written, archaeological, linguistic, anthropological and artistic sources, it clearly presents the history of the Hunnic populations, their way of life, their religions, their warrior traditions and their decorative styles. It places them in the general evolution of the world of the Eurasian steppes. It includes famous figures such as Attila, but also lesser-known characters such as the cruel “king of India” Mihirakoula who owned 2,000 war elephants. The presentation takes into account the latest discoveries and the most recent theories to answer the still open questions of the origin and kinship of the various Hunnic peoples.
