Marked by a singular sensibility, Maurice Sauzet's architecture was constructed outside, if not in opposition to, modernist thought. Intended to inspire today's architects and to help future residents clarify their desires, this work was designed as a manual, a concrete tool for designing in tune with the world.
Drawing on two projects, a house creation and a renovation, the author delivers step by step the principles of his thinking and his working method. At the center: taking into account the expectations of those who will live there, the subtle adjustment to the construction site and, above all, the guiding search for " sensitive sockets ".
In other words, the quest, always demanding and each time new, for devices - openings, paths, shades... - capable of reconciling the materiality and strength of architecture with the immateriality and fleetingness of human feelings.
