Hosted in the spaces of the Al Thani Collection at the Hôtel de la Marine, the exhibition presents for the first time little-known facets of one of the most important collectors of the 20th century, whose Foundation is one of the jewels of Lisbon's museums: ancient art, Islamic arts, illuminations, 18th century French, Art Nouveau jewelry by René Lalique... A faithful reflection of the exhibition, the catalog is structured around three presentation texts and six exhibition sections that reflect the major aspects of the collecting activity of the industrialist Calouste Gulbenkian: intimacy, preciousness, craftsmanship, provenance and rarity.

This catalog inaugurates the collection that Éditions du patrimoine will publish on the occasion of the biannual exhibitions organized by the Al Thani Collection. Its graphic design was designed by Cyril Cohen. Published in French, it is accompanied by a booklet containing the texts in English.
