René Dussaud's archaeological collection is on display for the first time. This rich collection, bequeathed in 1958 by the renowned French orientalist and his Lausanne-born wife, Marie Bergier, to the Musée d'arts décoratifs de Lausanne, comprises nearly 180 objects from across the Near East, from the Bronze Age to the 19th century. These exceptional pieces, recently brought to light by the work of archaeologist and philologist Patrick Maxime Michel, offer us a journey to the Eastern Mediterranean and allow us to discover the riches of Near Eastern civilizations, the cultural legacy of our society, and also to become aware of the fragility of this heritage, which is now in danger.
