Responsible and sustainable cultures
Buying local and seasonal also means buying flowers! Enter the world of local flower production and (re)discover flowers in their "true" natural cycle. Find inspiration for your future floral creations while adopting responsible and sustainable practices thanks to the advice of knowledgeable... and committed florists.
Why should we consume locally when we eat, but not when we offer flowers? This is the question we have asked ourselves and that the French Flower Collective has been asking since 2017. This reflection comes from the Slow Flower , a movement born in the United States in the 2000s, which promotes the production and purchase of local and seasonal flowers.
Even today, more than 80% of flowers for sale in France come from the other side of the world. The red rose purchased from your florist on a Sunday morning was still in a greenhouse in Kenya the day before! The carbon impact of such a purchase is therefore much more significant than it seems... Its social impact is just as disastrous. With Fleurs Locales, we invite you to discover French flower farms and their owners who produce more than 150 different flowers each year while respecting the environment.
This book will also be an opportunity to learn more about the Slow Flower , but also to find inspiration for your own compositions to the rhythm of the seasons!
