This book showcases the textiles of the African continent through a multitude of precise skills (weaving, dyeing, embroidery, beading, printing), original materials and complex patterns.

The selected fabrics and objects come from private collections: that of Ly Dumas, president of the Jean-Félicien Gacha Foundation, and that of Anne Grosfilley, anthropologist. Textiles such as Ndop from Cameroon, Rabal from Senegal, Faso Dan Fani from Burkina Faso, Korhogo cloth from Ivory Coast, Bogolan from Mali, raffia, Kasai velvet, Ntshak, Kente from Ghana, and wax prints are on display.
The fabrics presented reveal the workings of African societies and express in turn the words of ancestors, the prestige of dignitaries, the emancipation of women.
