Fernand Pouillon (1912-1986) is one of the most prolific and unique architects of the 20th century. In France and Algeria, he occupied the forefront between 1953 and 1984. The reception of his work culminated in 1982 at the 2nd Venice Architecture Biennale. Various monographic publications were devoted to him between 1986 and 2015, but to date, the true catalogue of his work remains to be established. This work aims to situate selected elements, some previously unpublished, in the light of historical events - the end of the French colonial empire, the crisis of modernity in architecture and the vagaries of tourism in newly independent countries - and in a period marked by attention to the bioclimatic characteristics of buildings.
