The first edition of the trilogy of exhibitions "Vis-à-vis. Fernand Léger and his friends" was presented at the Fernand Léger National Museum in Biot in 2017, the second in 2018.
The final part is accompanied by the publication of this book, which includes all the artists presented at the three events. Richly illustrated, it is organized according to a chronological and thematic plan, and punctuated by "focuses" on Fernand Léger's major friendships, whether in the world of visual arts or performance. Thus, for each decade, from the 1900s to the 1950s, works by Juan Gris, Albert Marquet, Constantin Brancusi, Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, and twenty other artist-friends will interact with the works of Fernand Léger.
Historical and documentary photographs illustrate the main artistic events and issues between 1900 and 1950. Reflecting the artist's open and multidisciplinary spirit, the book is playful, modern, colorful and luminous.
Intended for a wide audience, it constitutes both an exhibition catalogue reflecting the joyful and creative atmosphere of the three successive exhibitions, and a reference work highlighting the museum's collections by enriching them with the contribution of other artists.

Exhibition at the Fernand Léger National Museum, Biot, from June 1 to September 23, 2019
