This volume, which will be followed by a second, brings together around a hundred plates taken from Fabienne Verdier's personal journal: collages, drawings, and texts follow one another, echoing each other, and highlighting the artist's creative process. These notebooks were composed by Fabienne Verdier over the past five years (2017-2022), alongside her work as a painter. They thus collect stimuli, ideas to be developed, reflections, without forgetting the uninterrupted dialogue with the works of other artists, writers, and scientists. The work, edited by Alexandre Vanautgaerden, was conceived as an open proposal allowing a different reading of art history based on analogy, an approach that renews our view of nature. The texts were transcribed by the artist, but also enriched with her own comments.
